At BE FESTIVAL, our first prize offers the winner support to create a new show and perform it at the following festival. Last year’s winner, Tom Cassani, returns to perform his latest work I Promise You That Tonight. Blending the rhetoric of a showman, a miracle-monger and a sceptic, Cassani will proselytize, pedal and preach the importance of remaining wary of those who make extraordinary claims.
Lying is done with words and also silence. Turning water into glass, turning waiting into accepting is hard to achieve. None of this is impossible but it’s OK to admit that it is hard.
