Using QLab in Documentary Theatre Performance by Silke Huysmans & Hannes Dereere (Belgium) – 60 min

In this workshop, Hannes & Silke unravel the mechanics behind their documentary theatre performance Mining Stories which was scheduled to be presented at this year’s live festival.

For #BEatHome, they share their experience in an online workshop designed to give insight into the way they use QLab, a piece of software for audio and video, to bring documentary recordings to the theatre stage.

As many of us are spending more time at home, this workshop could be an opportunity for theatremakers and enthusiasts to learn a new skill using QLab, in order to bring audio and visuals for theatre to life.

Silke Huysmans and Hannes Dereere are a Belgian artist duo from Brussels. In their theatre work, the duo searches for different ways to translate their documentary research to the theatre stage. The use of audio recordings of testimonies and conversations is at the centre of their work.

No previous experience required.

This workshop will take place via Zoom – a teleconferencing platform we are using for most of our live events. After the main presentation, participants will have the opportunity to direct questions to the panelists.
