Shan Shui by Edurne Rubio & María Jerez (Spain/Belgium) – 20 min

“Shan shui” is the Chinese word for landscape, which means mountain water. The mountain and water unite creating clouds of mist. The mist is the representation of the void and in the void, everything fits and everything is possible. In this performance, commissioned by BE FESTIVAL for  #BEatHome, Edurne & María paint a landscape without paintings from the emptiness of confinement.

Edurne Rubio and María Jerez are currently working on a theatre piece A Nublo which was scheduled to be performed at BE FESTIVAL this year. A Nublo is their first co-authored work, which combines the different sensitivities and interests of each, in proposing a common world. Shan Shui is an online spin-off of this new work.

This performance will take place via Zoom – a teleconferencing platform we’ll be using for most of our live events. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the artists through the camera and microphone on your device.
