Workshops at BE FESTIVAL

Following the success of BE FESTIVAL’s programme of workshops in previous years, we want to continue offering the public and our visiting companies the experience of working with highly-regarded established practitioners.

As well as being open to participating companies and festival volunteers, we will offer a limited number of places to Midlands-based artists, students and interested audience members, with sign-up available in advance.

This scheme offers the public a clear opportunity for meaningful engagement, becoming active, creative and important contributors to BE FESTIVAL. We also believe the workshop-leaders will gain a great deal from sharing their practise with like-minded professionals and interested amateurs.

During the festival there will be free training workshops at Birmingham Repertory Theatre.

Workshops during the rest of the year

Bring international theatre artists to your students
Give your students the opportunity to experience European theatre workshops and talks with BE FESTIVAL

Workshops and residencies are available with our top international artists, and can be tailored to suit the needs of your students. Content of workshops could include:
• Physical theatre
• Clowning
• Dance
• Devised work
• Directing
• Choreography

Our performing artists are available for talks and debates about European Theatre Practice and the BE FESTIVAL team are available to give talks about different aspects of programming and managing a European Theatre Festival.

Workshops, residencies and talks are available throughout the year, with different artists available at different times. We will work with you to design a workshop programme that is right for your group.

Prices start at £60 per hour for talks and £175 per half day for workshops, plus travel expenses if your venue is more than 10 miles from Birmingham City Centre. Fees can be negotiated for longer residencies, which can result in creation of a performance.

To book workshops and talks please contact Jenny Smith via email: jenny@befestival.org
