For over 40 years, Anne Bean has undertaken numerous solo and collaborative projects worldwide. Recently, she was awarded a Franklin Furnace International Fellowship where she worked with ten artists to produce an exhibition Drawn Conversations. In 2009 she received a British Council Creative Collaborations and Visiting Arts award to bring together women from Iraq, Croatia, Israel and N. Ireland to make work in each other’s countries. The Tate gallery Research department and Live Art Development Agency gave her a Legacy: Thinker in Residence Award, which led to a major work TAPS in association with Matts Gallery in 2010 and numerous ongoing projects, including being part of Just Listen festival Cork 2011.
Anne Bean’s workshop is open both to festival attendees and members of the Birmingham community. Participants will also take part in Friday’s performance/action of the Un-knitted Lives of Young Women, by Anne Bean and Poshya Kakl.
