A dark and reflective reminder of how past violent experiences stay with us, Atávico combines physical theatre, dance and a choking soundtrack to create a harrowing and evocative experience.
Originally devised to explore the relationship between the dictatorships of Brazil and Spain and how citizens deal with the violence around them, the show has won Critics and Audience awards at Spain’s much revered ‘Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid’.
Poliana Lima is a Brazilian dancer and choreographer who has been living in Madrid since 2010. Atávico is her fourth major work and features dancers from Costa Rica, France, Brazil and Spain.
