Gesture theatre: body and imagination with Liévine Hubert & Antonin Descampe (Le Geste qui Sauve)

How to tell a story and transmit feelings through a rhythmic succession of movements and attitudes? That is the question addressed by gesture theatre: a research that places the actor’s body and its movements at the center of the creative process. In this research, we progressively purify movements until we find the right form: simple and meaningful. During this workshop, we will approach the basics of gesture theatre through a series of exercises founded on the analysis of movement and rhythm.

Le Geste qui Sauve met at the Kleine Academie, a theater school in Brussels (Belgium) which extends and develops the pedagogy of Jacques Lecoq. Their first show L’Absent won a Special Mention for Best Physicality at BE 2012.
