Mining Stories is a documentary theatre performance that follows a mining disaster in the region of Minas Gerais, Brazil, where Silke grew up as a child. Through interviews collected both in Europe and in Brazil, an intriguing journey unfolds visiting several topics such as memory, politics, religion and storytelling.
Silke Huysmans and Hannes Dereere live and work in Brussels. They share a mutual interest in exploring the use of journalistic and documentary elements in their work. At the heart of their artistic practice lies a detailed field research through which they shape and form their projects.
