Text in action with Roxana Silbert

This workshop will explore tools to approach the delivery of a text. Using some of Dennis Kelly’s works, we will look at how to make dramatic language active. Language exists in the body, and its delivery must therefore be rooted in the physical body. We will look at investing in the line, in what is written, escaping from psychology and rooting the text in the present moment, yet putting in place the means to sustain the freshness of the text over time.

Roxana became Artistic Director of Birmingham Repertory Theatre in 2012. Formerly she was Associate Director at the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). For the RSC, Roxana has directed Measure for Measure, Richard III and The Life of Galileo (Swan Theatre).
